Our CANDIDATE: the Lead out method

The basic idea is SIMPLE

How do we bring out the best

FROM EACH UNIQUE STUDENT

something we all want

even though there is

ONLY ONE ADULT IN THE CLASSROOM?

The SIMPLE idea:

Help students with TWO DRIVES.

#1 HELP students with their DRIVE for INDEPENDENCE:

Brings out the BEST from EACH INDIVIDUAL student.

#2 HELP students DIRECT their DRIVE for LEARNING.

Solves the ONE-AND-MANY problem in K-12 education.

#1 The DRIVE for INDEPENDENCE

ALL BY MYSELF, I want to:

Go around the living room.

Go up and down the front steps.

Bicycle around the block.

Drive to the park.

But READINESS for more INDEPENDENCE

is NOT GUARANTEED

Not all children grow up READY

• to lead their own life

• or their learning life.

SOME students grow up ready for more INDEPENDENCE.

But too many grow up UNREADY for more INDEPENDENCE.

THE KEY to a LIFE of

INDEPENDENCE and LEARNING?

EDUCATION as

ORIGINALLY UNDERSTOOD:

has NOTHING to do with learning;

is NOT EVEN learning how to learn;

comes from the Latin word e•du•ce•re:

to lead out the student from with,

hence the name, the Lead out method.

What EDUCATION REALLY MEANS:

the psychology of leading out the independence already developing.

Having their OWN fulfilling relationships.

Pursuing their OWN interests and dreams.

Making their OWN contributions to society.

And GUESS WHAT?

#1 EDUCATING for the INDEPENDENCE DRIVE

IS KEY TO

#2 The DRIVE to LEARN just right FOR EACH.

WHY?

Because EDUCATING for INDEPENDENCE
begins to solve the one-and-many problem in school.

CONSIDER:

Only with the AUTONOMY that comes

with being granted more INDEPENDENCE

can students choose learning challenges

NOT TOO EASY

NOT TOO DIFFICULT

but JUST RIGHT, in the zone.

The SIMPLE BASIC IDEA

as an IF-THEN statement

IF we could (and we can)
educate students using psychology
to use independence more wisely and responsibly

THEN it becomes safe to grant
the freedom students need
to help each other navigate
the learning just right for each.

RESULTS of this SIMPLE idea:

SOLVES the structural ONE-AND-MANY problem in schooling

Even though there is only ONE adult in the classroom

and THE-MANY students are ALL DIFFERENT

Students are using their INCREASING INDEPENDENCE

to navigate the learning JUST RIGHT FOR EACH.

It makes LOGICAL sense.

But HOW do you actually do this?
